Women in rural Ethiopia spend, on average, 2.5 hours to get water daily
We wanted to create an intimate experience allowing users to look eye to eye with the person they're helping rather than down at them. What better way to accomplish this than to join them for their daily walk.
With the help of AKQA we gathered stories, info, and experiences from real young women and built them into a Facebook Bot called Yeshi that let you experience some of it with them while walking
Yeshi shared the sound of her footsteps, the music of her village, the sights of her path, and the wisdom of her hardship
"663 million people making that journey can be hard to imagine, but when you experience what that daily walk could look like, it becomes more concrete."
-Scott Harrison, charity:water Founder
Tens of thousands of walking-hours were logged and VentureBeat selected Yeshi as “gold” in “The 8 best chatbots of 2016”
